South Korea has proposed a cash assistance program to help citizens cope with rising fuel prices and living costs. The plan would provide between 100,000 and 600,000 won to around 70% of the population, depending on income level and location.
People in regions facing population decline and vulnerable groups, such as single-parent families and low-income households, will receive higher payments.
The proposal is part of a larger supplementary budget aimed at supporting the economy during global instability caused by rising oil prices. However, it still requires approval from parliament.
