The United Arab Emirates passport has reached second place in the 2026 Henley Passport Index, its highest position in the history of the ranking. It shares this rank with Japan and South Korea, allowing citizens from these countries to travel to 187 destinations without obtaining a visa in advance.
The UAE passport has improved significantly over the years. In 2006 it ranked 62nd, but by 2025 it had already climbed into the top ten.
Experts say this improvement is the result of stronger economic relationships, strategic visa policies, and international partnerships that have increased the country’s global influence.
