According to the IQAir 2025 World Air Quality Report, many of Asia’s most polluted cities are located in India and China. In particular, India had 64 cities listed among the world’s top 100 most polluted.
Air pollution in these regions is caused by industrial emissions, traffic congestion, coal use and seasonal activities such as crop burning. Many cities have PM2.5 levels far above the World Health Organization’s safe guideline.
High pollution levels can lead to serious health risks, including respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Experts emphasize the need for stronger environmental policies to reduce pollution.
