Only 13 Countries Met Safe Air Quality Standards in 2025

In 2025, only 13 countries had safe air quality. Most countries did not meet the safety standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO). Air pollution is highest in South Asia and parts of Africa.

The report studied air quality in many cities around the world. Only a small number of cities had clean air.

Some places with very clean air include French Polynesia, Puerto Rico and Iceland.

Experts say pollution is getting worse because of climate change, wildfires and extreme weather.
