Refusing Alcohol During Tet Celebrations - Class A

Refusing Alcohol During Tet Celebrations

Every Tet holiday, Thanh Tri receives many invitations to drink alcohol from his relatives. However, the 26-year-old man chooses not to drink. Tri works as a freelance communications consultant in Ho Chi Minh City but returns to his hometown in Can Tho for Tet.

During family gatherings, beer and liquor are often served, and younger people are expected to drink with older relatives. When people offer him alcohol, Tri sometimes says he has a stomach problem and asks for soda instead.

Tri stopped drinking alcohol after he got very sick following a year-end party in 2024. Now he prefers meeting friends and business partners at cafés where drinking is not the main activity.
