Japanese police arrested seven men suspected of carrying out a robbery worth about 420 million yen in Tokyo’s Ueno District. Among the suspects is a member of a faction linked to the Yamaguchi-gumi, one of Japan’s largest organized crime groups.
According to investigators, the suspects attacked a Chinese man in his 40s on Jan. 29. They used pepper spray and stole three suitcases containing cash before escaping.
Authorities are now examining whether this robbery is connected to other attacks that occurred shortly afterward at nearby transportation hubs, including Haneda Airport.
